I know what you mean when you say that the rooms used to be overlooked and are now high end eye pleasing and functional. But that does come with a price. I have been holding off on pulling the trigger to remodel the kitchen due to the cost. I did do one of the bathrooms but the wife likes such high end accessories that I am affraid to take the plung for the Kitchen cost.

We have put solar skylight tubes in living room and its amazing what the natural light can do for the beauty of a room. Not to mention their energy efficiency. I thought some might want to take a look at using this type of lighting along with lamps. The light they put out can not be duplicated by artificial light and they give out a really pretty effect in a living room setting.

Timers can be a good idea but I’ve discovered by putting solar tubes in my bathrooms, the lights are never left on during the day. This is because they are never turned. When the kids (who are the real culprits to leaving lights on) use the bathrooms, to them the lights are already on. No turning off and on all day. A lot of power saved. They bring in so much natural light even on dark cloudy days. Natural light is the best light for bathrooms. I put them in closets, kitchens, and home office so I get energy saving all year.

I can testify how a rug can bring an entire room together. Our livingroom always looked ok but now that we have the rug it’s like it’s pulling the entire room together.

Maybe a tip that may be useful to others, when we were about to choose a paintcolor for the walls (and see what wall should be painted or not) we tried it first in photoshop how it looked. Some basic understanding of photoshop is required but it gives a pretty good idea.

Having a nice bathroom is good. It does not need to be luxurious but of comfort and neatness. It must have the amenities that it needed to suit your bathroom needs.
